Brentwood grew in rings around its station, and you can read those rings in its bathrooms. Close to the centre and out through Shenfield the houses are mostly 1930s: bay-fronted semis and detached homes built when a bathroom meant a bath, a basin and very little else. Head into Hutton and the estates jump forward forty years, with squarer rooms and pipework that is far easier to move. Then come the villages, Ingrave, Herongate, Doddinghurst and South Weald, where the housing is older, less regular, and no two rooms measure the same.
The 1930s homes set most of our briefs. The original bathroom usually sits above the kitchen, served by a soil stack bolted to the outside wall. Move the toilet far from that stack and the floor has to carry a new fall, so it helps us enormously to know where the stack sits before we start drawing. Tell us, or send a photo of that outside wall, and we plan the layout around it and choose tiles second. Get that order right and even a narrow 1930s room can carry a walk-in shower and a freestanding bath.
Hutton and the newer estates bring the opposite problem. The room itself is fine; the suite is simply tired, and the owner wants something that feels considered rather than picked from a catalogue. That is where fitted furniture, layered lighting and the scale of the tile do the heavy lifting.
We don't have a showroom in Brentwood, so what we offer instead is time. Every CM13, CM14 and CM15 bathroom begins the same way, with a proper listen: come down the A127 to Leigh-on-Sea if a morning out suits you, or simply get in touch from home. You are welcome to stand in front of a real bath, turn the taps and see the tiles in daylight, and there is never any rush to decide anything.

You only pay for the products you choose: the 3D visuals, the specification and the technical drawings all cost nothing, and you only pay for the products you pick. Fitting is quoted by whoever builds the room, your own fitter or one from our Approved Fitter Network, because it depends on access, the state of the floor and how far the pipework has to move. We will give you an honest steer on that while we are designing.

The first step costs you nothing but an hour of your time. It is a conversation, nothing more. Some people drive over to the Leigh-on-Sea showroom to see and handle the real products, others get in touch and talk it through from home, and both are equally welcome. The next thing we ask for is the size of the room. Send the numbers through when you have them, or book the measuring service and let someone else take care of it. We then draw the bathroom in 3D and attach a fixed price to the whole specification, and you approve that before a single thing is ordered. It works the same way in a bay-fronted 1930s semi near Shenfield as it does in the postwar homes further north toward Doddinghurst. Once you have approved it, we order and coordinate every product, and your fitter, your own tradesperson or one of the fitters in our Approved Fitter Network, is sent a full technical pack: product data, installation drawings and clearances. We are reachable throughout the build, and when the room is finished the warranties are registered in your name.

Maria's family wanted a bathroom in their Brentwood CM13 home that felt like a spa. We split the room into two zones: white onyx Ca' Pietra tiles in the dry area and blue onyx in the wetroom shower, with brushed brass trims running through both. A BC Designs Viado freestanding bath sits under the window with an Elisa floor-mounted filler, and the shower runs on an Elisa Intuition smart valve you can set by voice. Be Modern Atlanta fitted furniture in navy hides the cistern and the pipework, with a Roper Rhodes Presence mirrored cabinet above the basin and Crosswater glass on the wetroom.
Products came to £13,000–£15,000, toward the upper end of the £6,000–£15,000+ range for a full bathroom. Five weeks on site once the fitter started.
